Salford Cheerleading Team First Open Gym
This weekend (Sunday 10th September) Electric Athletics held their very first open gym in their new Salford cheerleading training location, Electric Avenue, which was a huge success.
Families of Electric Athletics athletes were able to look around the new gym while the athletes made the most of using the specialist equipment and taking full advantage of the brand-new full size cheerleading spung floor.
Athletes took the chance to work independently on their cheerleading skills, whether it be tumbling, stunting or even jumps. Whilst an open gym is not a structured or taught class, the Electric Athletics fully qualified coaches were on hand to offer advice, tips, support and even spot in some cases.
There were opportunities for the two world teams, Electric Athletics Midnight and Electric Athletics Twilight as well as the CHEERSPORT team Electric Athletics Strike to have fundraising stalls, to assist with the cost of them travelling to America next year to compete internationally.
Head Coach and Program Director, Becky Whittle, commented on the day “It was amazing to see such a great turnout of parents and athletes at the open gym. The atmosphere at open gyms are always great, you get to watch the older high level athletes engaging and assisting the younger athletes with their skills or helping other athletes who don’t get to fly often fly. Athletes from our Warrington cheerleading location came over and you can see friendships beginning or in some cases growing. We can’t wait to hold our next one.”
Parents and athletes could look at and buy the new Electric Athletics apparel and the cheerleading teams did uniform sizing ready for the launch of the brand-new Electric Athletics cheerleading unforms.
Established in 2023, Electric Athletics cheerleading aims to provide a positive, safe space, in a fun filled environment for athletes of all ages and abilities from the age of 3 up to adults, across the Northwest. With cheerleading teams across the Northwest, both in Salford and Warrington and offer not only Allstar Cheerleading but Recreational Cheerleading as well as Prep Cheerleading as well. At Electric Athletics, we welcome everyone from complete beginners to experienced cheerleaders, dancers and gymnasts.
