Electric Athletics Successful First Christmas Showcase

Last weekend (Sunday 3rd December) all athletes from across the different Salford cheerleading teams and Warrington cheerleading teams took part in their first ever annual cheerleading Christmas showcase.

The showcase was a complete sell out and this was the athletes first chance of the season to perform for parents, friends and family and show spectators their routines, ready for their first competition next week.

Held at Electric Avenue, in Salford, cheerleaders started arriving for rehearsal from 9am ready for doors to open at 4pm.

Spectators and athletes could busy refreshments and snacks, as well as Electric Athletics apparel – with any funds raised going towards the purchase of a new backdrop for the competition sized sprung floor.

Athletes competing at the American National Championships and Worlds Championships next year had multiple different fundraising activities going on throughout, from doing the younger athlete’s hair and makeup ready for showcase, to tombola’s and raffles.

Head Coach and Program Director Becky Whittle said “For some athletes this was their first time ever performing on a full sized spung floor in front of an audience, and I couldn’t be prouder. The Christmas showcase is so important as it gives the athletes supporters their first chance to look at what their son/daughter has been working towards since August, ready for competitions. It was great seeing so many people in the gym showing their support for all the different cheerleading teams.”
